В этом году Международная Рекламная Ассоциация (IAA - International Advertising Association), созданная в Штатах ровно 70 лет назад, впервые провела всемирный фестиваль социальной рекламы - IAA Responsibility Awards.
В названии заложен смысл этого начинания - фестиваль нужен, чтобы выяснить, отдают ли себе отчет рекламисты в том, насколько они ответственны перед обществом, и какова роль социальной рекламы в коммуникациях.
По задумке, IAA Responsibility Awards должны демонстрировать и стимулировать людей, задействованных в рекламной индустрии, к вдумчивому, внимательному и очень ответственному подходу при создании социальной рекламы. А также показать отношение рекламистов к реально существующим проблемам.
Поскольку фестиваль очень юн, то начали с малого. Всего три номинации - самые основные и давно используемые: телевизионная реклама, печатная и наружная реклама, интерактив. Изменения, произошедшие в индустрии за последние несколько лет и преобразившие списки номинаций большинства фестивалей, пока не учитывались.
В 2008 году награды за ответственность в социальной рекламе получили 12 роликов, 18 принтов (9 кампаний) и 4 интерактивных проекта. Однако, несмотря на довольно скромное количество участников, уровень работ, отмеченных жюри фестиваля, высок. К примеру, ролики "Signatures" и "Bullet" агентства TBWA\Paris для Amnesty International, а также "Breathe" агентства Publicis Mojo для Greepeace в июне прошлого года получили Каннских Львов.География участников, несмотря на американское происхождение IAA в целом и фестиваля в частности, весьма разнообразна. Из 12 роликов 3 сделаны во Франции, 2 в Штатах, 2 в Великобритании, по одному в Бельгии, Румынии, Бразилии, Швеции и Новой Зеландии.
В принтах 9 наград поделили 6 стран: 3 кампании из США, 2 - из Бразилии. Италия, Франция, Канада и Польша отметились одной наградой.
Самыми награждаемыми рекламодателями IAA Responsibility Awards стали Amnesty International, Greenpeace и General Electric.

Context: Build awareness of the malnutrition problem as it is still an issue today. Fundraising for the cause.
Philosophy/Solution: Create a hype around the MUAC* bracelets. These bracelets are used by the doctors on the field, in order to measure the degree of malnutrition. It is a very easy and rapid predictor of the risk of death. It’s a system that is so simple, it’s almost shocking. One million MUAC* bracelets were spread at strategic spots around Belgium. They were attached to objects as wide as a malnourished child’s upper arm: the leg of a chair, fencing, bicycle stands, children’s prams etc...
Results: Thanks to the campaign, MSF has received more than 1 million € in donation. 325.000 euros are attributed to the above communication and 647.428 euros thanks to a mailing.

Brief: to educate the parents and friends of young people with eating disorders, with the ultimate aim of getting sufferers to seek medical help sooner. Each advertisement acts as the front door to a website which gives information about how to spot the early warning signs of an eating disorder and how to persuade sufferers to accept treatment.
Philosophy/Solution
Solution: There are thousands of ‘pro-ana’ websites where anorexics
swop information, much of it misleading. By highlighting the horrific advice which is already ‘out there’, this commercial both reinforces the need for accurate information and establishes its own site as the authoritative source, thus prompting the viewer to visit.
Results
Response: There was no media budget – media space was donated free by media owners. The commercial was seeded onto Youtube and Myspace, where it has so far been viewed
over 150,000 times. The website has received over 100,000 page hits.

The “Landscapes” campaign is another take on illustrating how the Earth’s resources can be harnessed to address our most critical problems, this time in a more metaphorical manner. For example, one of our ads titled “Sun Lamp” portrays the bulb of a flower as the sun, to depict solar energy.
Communicate that GE is a company dedicated to turning imaginative ideas into leading products and services that help solve some of the world’s toughest problems.
To underscore GE’s commitment to making the world a better place, this campaign dramatizes how technology and nature can live in harmony together. The resulting layouts are beautiful landscapes that conceptually highlight some of GE’s core products
